A two piece Chinese export trade cupboard, with original gilt chinoiserie painted panels, on the exterior, and blue painted bird panels on the interior. Sang de boeuf and ebonized, dovetailed case, original hardware. Camphorwood.
Painted turned foot base, custom made at a later date. Asian, Mid 19th C. This Chinese export trade cupboard measures 73"H 22.25"D 31"W.
A late 17th/early 18th C. Huang Hua Li (yellow rosewood) coffer, a rare and beautiful wood. The lower panel of the coffer, was converted to a drawer, probably in England, in the 19th C. The drawer face is the original panel, I have tried to show the joint on the drawer face in one of the photos. The top 3 drawers appear original. There may be a 6 inch by 3 inch carved molding which drops down on either side of the skirt replaced, probably at the same time they did the lower drawer.
