A five drawer painted chest of drawers, with carved wood pulls. Well worn floral painted motifs, with black and green striping adorn this ochre painted chest. Wonderful patina. Asian, 19th C. 39"H 39.5"W 22.25"D
A late 17th/early 18th C. Huang Hua Li (yellow rosewood) coffer, a rare and beautiful wood. The lower panel of the coffer, was converted to a drawer, probably in England, in the 19th C. The drawer face is the original panel, I have tried to show the joint on the drawer face in one of the photos. The top 3 drawers appear original. There may be a 6 inch by 3 inch carved molding which drops down on either side of the skirt replaced, probably at the same time they did the lower drawer.
